Running is an excellent way to get into shape and empower yourself. Running is best paired with resistance training because the combination of the two is conducive to excellent natural personal care. But if you are new to the whole running thing, worry not! We have some advice on how to go about it.
As the saying goes, “You have to learn to walk before you can run.” While it is certainly possible to just begin running, it is best to mentally and physically prepare yourself by simply walking long distances. In doing so, you will not fatigue yourself to the point that you scare yourself off of picking up the habit. You can begin with a five minute walk for your first time and increase the amount of time with each subsequent walk. Once your body gets used to it and you are confident enough, you can switch between walking and running. And from there it is easy to get into the habit of running several times a week.
And of course, re-hydrating is important so drink water during and after your run. As far as food, you should consume to regain some of the carbs and protein that is spent when you run. We recommend foods like chicken breast, salmon, or a banana immediately after you run.
