PB ‘n’ J From Organic Food Stores

January 9th, 2012 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

spelt breadI have eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every day for the past two years. There have been days where I’ve taken in leftovers for lunch from a nice dinner the night before, or I’ve gone out for a piece of pizza, but largely, it’s every day. I have eaten well over 700 PB ‘n’ Js  during this span.

Why don’t I get tired of them? Because I am a connoisseur. I shop at organic food stores for natural peanut butter, no salt added; the only ingredient is peanuts. I eat the finest jelly, which is actually preserves with no high fructose corn syrup. I use spelt bread, which is full of hearty whole grains. And I top it all off with a cold glass of organic milk.

Since I drink milk every day, there are times I get lactose-free organic milk or even milk alternatives such as soy, since I’ve heard horror stories of older people, who used to be able to drink milk and eat cheese, suffer from lactose intolerance, which can be contracted through everyday exposure.

Thanks to organic food stores, I don’t have to spend money on eating lunch out every day. And I stay healthy by getting protein, whole grains, and good fats. So if you want a new lunch item, choose a PB ‘n’ J.

Healthy Snack Foods For The Rest of The Day

December 22nd, 2011 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

healthy snack foodsI went out for breakfast today. In doing so, I ordered what I normally can’t make at home — which in this case meant eggs, bacon, potatoes, and flapjacks. I was pretty excited but also prepared to feel overwhelmed and disgusted, yet satisfied, by the meal’s end.

The man next to me ordered orange juice, a bowl of fruit, and oatmeal, which he polished off cleanly and quickly, in a somewhat supercilious manner, which I noticed as he condescendingly looked at my unhealthy plate. I was tempted to explain, “Yes, when I treat myself, I like to get what I normally can’t make at home.” But I’m sure his reply would’ve been indifferent, as he ate his bowl of healthy snack food.

And after breakfast I did feel as though my arteries had assumed a modest layer of plaque, and that my blood was having slightly more trouble running its course due to that heavy load of cholesterol. So back at home I popped an herbal supplement for the vitamins I missed at my first meal, and resolved to eat only healthy snack food for the rest of the day — nuts, fruit, vegetables, and whole grains, you know, the food you can get at organic food stores.

herbal nutrition supplementIt’s flu season. Amidst the sneezes, coughs, and other alarming bodily sounds, you may find yourself cautiously sipping your orange juice trying not to breathe too close to your neighbor who has has the ghastliest, most tubercular wheezes today. You’re tired of saying “God bless you” and what you really want to say is, “Why don’t you just stay home tomorrow?” Good luck.

You can get a flu shot, you can drink your orange juice, you can eat a bowl of microwaved spinach drizzled with olive oil and parmesan cheese for a delicious healthy treat, but most importantly you may want to take herbal supplements. Because herbal supplements are a dose of all the vitamins and minerals you need, not just Vitamin C. When you add herbal supplements onto the three other anti-flu techniques we’ve mentioned above, your chances of becoming sick are slim to none. You’re going to be fine; you could probably let your wheezing friend cough all over your keyboard and you wouldn’t get sick, although we don’t recommend that because it’s just gross.

So this winter, couple together healthy snack food and herbal supplements and don’t be scared when you’re riding public transportation and you hear a sniffle.

Healthy Snack Foods and Herbal Supplements

December 13th, 2011 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

herbal supplementsI sometimes feel that I’m not getting all my vitamins and minerals. The result is that I need herbal supplements. I noticed that once I started taking them my skin grew glossier and the ridges in my nails lessened, they became shinier. There’s something about getting all of those vitamins that you wouldn’t otherwise get that makes you feel alive and healthy, like taking good care of yourself, like visiting the doctor and the dentist and being caught up. It’s easy to take health for granted, but when you find your health deteriorating it puts a damper on life, unless you resign yourself to death, which if you aren’t in the right mindset for, can be sad and lonely.

Healthy snack foods are another way to live healthily and feel good about yourself. They can really make a difference in your daily energy levels as well as in how you look and feel. Living with healthy snack foods and herbal supplements is like getting a full night’s rest — you’ll look and feel better. And while you can make do on less sleep in the same way you can get by on sub-par health, sooner rather than later you’re going to burn out.

organic food storesThere is a correlation between eating healthy snack foods and feeling good. Even after you eat a chicken nugget or two you can feel its latent effects. You may have a craving for Chinese food, but once it arrives and you taste the MSG you may be dissuaded from finishing what you anticipated as a pig-out.

It may be ok to do this every once in a while, but weekly servings of kung pao chicken are not a good idea if you want to keep a taut belly and a low heart rate. Make your own food at home so that you can see exactly what you’re putting into it. You can determine what ingredients you want to ingest, and whether it’s worth the extra cash to go to organic food stores, which it usually is.

During the winter, cook in bulk and refrigerate or freeze your leftovers so that the only time spent in preparation is in reheating. That makes it much easier to come home hungry after a long day of hard work without giving in to the temptation of going out for an unhealthy dinner.

If you get hungry before bed, eat nuts and fruit, healthy snack foods. Don’t drive to White Castle. Trust me, you’ll feel better in the morning.

Staying Satisfied With Organic Food Stores

November 29th, 2011 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

healthy snack foodsIt’s pretty hard for a young man such as myself to eat healthily all the time, but I make do. I try not to go out to dinner all that much, which saves me a lot of cholesterol and sodium. Instead, I visit organic food stores to buy fresh fruits and veggies and other healthy snack foods such as spelt bread and hummus, nuts and dark chocolate, which thankfully, has lots of antioxidants I can feel good about.

The late afternoon is the hardest time for me, when I’m still at work and my belly starts growling. I’ll have a handful of nuts, but that won’t quite quell it; within fifteen minutes I’m hungry again.

The grilled cheese sandwich is a good snack. It’s important not to overdo it with dairy, but if I’m hungry on a rainy day, there are few things as satisfying as the cheesy pull of a sandwich as it separates from what’s in my mouth.

It takes some creativity to avoid hunger, but it’s totally doable. Just visit your local organic food stores when you’re hungry and plan to spend a longer time than you normally do wandering up and down the aisles. Ask yourself, would I, could I eat that? Then take it home and have fun!

Carrot Chips and Organic Food Stores

November 21st, 2011 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

organic food storesI shop at organic food stores and I recently discovered a great way to eat vegetables: veggie chips.

Carrot chips, pea chips, and even okra chips are a great way to get your daily dose of vitamins. You may think that carrot chips sound gross, that you’d rather just eat carrots in the raw, but the dehydration process makes these chips like potato chips, which as we all know, are delicious. Most don’t have the salt and greasy fat potato chips do either, so they nearly as good for you as the raw vegetable.

Carrot chips are actually sweeter than carrot sticks. And they’re especially good for people who take herbal supplements to combat their distaste for veggies. It’s great that people are beginning to think about different ways to eat vegetables — we’re realizing that fast food and the supermarket processed stuff isn’t sustainable for our 21st century lifestyles. And healthy snack foods can be just as tasty as unhealthy ones, except you don’t have to feel guilty about eating as much as you want.

So next time you’re shopping at organic food stores, check out the veggie chip selection. It’s a growing market worth investing your time and health in.

Different Smells and Tastes for Natural Personal Care

November 14th, 2011 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

natural personal careIs it a coincidence that the best foods for you smell the worst? And some of the best smelling foods are the worst for you?

Last night I felt pretty good about myself for making an onion-garlic-sardine-spinach sandwich but I had to brush my teeth afterwards. Sardines, despite their smell, are really quite good for you. They have the same omega-3 fats found in salmon but they are much less expensive, which means that if you so choose you can eat them every night.

You may not like sardines. That’s okay too. There are herbal dietary supplements to take that provide you with the vitamins you miss. That way you can avoid the smells.

But if you want natural personal care, there are other foods to eat besides the smelly ones that are good for you. Vegetables such as beets are really good for you. They don’t smell. Kale doesn’t either. Nor do squashes. Brussels sprouts can smell, but if you roast them with olive oil, cracked pepper and parmesan cheese, it starts smelling pretty good. If you’re into Brussels sprouts that is.

Different culinary stroked for different folks. That’s how it is. Some people’s palates are different. Depending on your own, eat accordingly.

Organic Food Stores Sell Human Maintenance

November 7th, 2011 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

healthy snack foodOur bodies are like machines — they require constant maintenance. Like our cars, we need fuel to run efficiently, and the quality of our fuel determines how long and how well we run. Wouldn’t it be great if we didn’t need to eat? We could dedicate our time and monies to so many other things; although, we wouldn’t share those intimate dinners we’ve had with loved ones and there would be other replacement activities to participate in during family get togethers…

Alas, we do need to eat. And, eat well we will. Organic food stores are the best places to buy food. You don’t want to eat food you don’t know where from, you want to know there were no pesticides used, and that it was grown naturally.

If you don’t like certain foods, think about herbal dietary supplements. These can provide you with a daily dose of Vitamins you’d otherwise lack, which could be detrimental to your health without you even realizing it. Once you start getting all of your necessary vitamins, you’ll be able to see the difference immediately.

Between organic food stores and herbal dietary supplements, your body will find all the maintenance it needs. Throw in some exercise here and there and you’ll run like a well-oiled machine.

The Healthy Snack Food Routine

October 31st, 2011 | Posted by daniela in organic food - (0 Comments)

healthy snack foodIt can be hard to get all of your vitamins and minerals every day. Even when you eat healthily, you may be forgetting Vitamind D or Folate. I’m not perfect either. I get so proud of myself for eating a banana every day, I forget about my Vitamin C intake. I fall into the habit of buying bananas, and I never get oranges or pears. My body gets used to its daily banana and it stops being as good as it once was. That’s why it’s good to take an herbal supplement.

Unless you’re a chef, and you feel comfortable buying any fruit or vegetable and turning it into a delicious meal, an herbal supplement is a great way to counter your eating habits. I’m not saying your eating habits are bad if you eat the same fruit or vegetable every day, only that you may be forgetting about the other vitamins you need since you get so caught up in how well you think you’re eating already. Try buying different healthy snack food every once in a while and you may be surprised at how good it can make you feel. And keep taking your herbal supplements too.
